common or garden cows

It’s a true story! What would you do if you found a cow in your front garden? Find out how people coped when the cows came to town!

Woodford-born artist Karen Humpage recalls the days when cows wandered around the suburban streets adjoining Epping Forest. See how their antics caused no end of consternation for homeowners and shopkeepers, frustration for motorists, wonderment and fun for children, and something to bark at for dogs.

With the help of local peoples’ recollections, Karen’s gently humorous writing paints pictures of cow/human interactions, upsets to the suburban idyll and the occasional far-fetched flight of fancy. All accompanied by Karen’s gloriously colourful paintings complementing the text.

Not just a book for the people of Epping Forest, this book will resonate with anyone who lives near to an area of common land where cattle are grazed.

house and garden portraits

I welcome enquiries for house and garden portrait commissions. Of course, it doesn't have to be a house - I have painted shops, churches, opera houses and universities before, so it could be of any building precious to you. A wedding venue, shop, holiday home, place of worship, garden shed or, indeed, a house. It makes a memorable gift for all sorts of occasions - anniversaries, birthdays, Christmas, moving and housewarmings, and weddings.

If you are interested in commissioning a portrait please email me first to discuss your requirements. I will need a couple of photos of your house, more if your house is large or has lots of architectural details. Once everything has been agreed I will endeavour to complete your artwork within 2 -4 weeks, depending on size. If you need the painting for a particular date (for a birthday present, for example), let me know and I will try to fit you in.

All paintings come fitted with a card mount. Where possible paintings are sized to fit standard ready-made frames, making it easier for you to frame your painting at a reasonable cost.
